There’s a reason these are so popular. They are quite simply, every child’s dream.
A place to hide from mum and dad, a place to hold tea parties with teddies, a secret little world of their own to arrange exactly how they please, the perfect spot to snuggle down for a bedtime story… the list goes on.
We got Daphne one for Christmas and while I was worried she might have been a bit young, she loved it straight away. We put all her soft toys in there, plus a bunny lamp and some cushions, and she happily sits in there playing in the mornings while we get ready for the day (which is a bit of a struggle at the moment, given that it’s usually about 5.30am…).
Loads of brands have jumped on the teepee bandwagon, but here are my top three…
Wildfire Teepees is a fab family brand – the first teepee was made for the owner’s own son and was such a hit that she went into business producing them. There’s a variety of different designs on offer – all pleasingly monochrome – finished off with bright coloured trims.
Incredible value for money, the mokee Tipiz is spacious and comes with a choice of three coloured sticks. This is the teepee we chose for Daph and we went for the yellow sticks, although we loved the mint green ones too. It’s super easy to set up and will blend into pretty much any interior scheme.
For those who want something a little less monochrome, Myweeteepee is another great family brand that sells a wide range of different fabrics, from pretty florals to sailor-inspired designs. The Isabella teepee, pictured, comes with a soft wadded base mat complete with non-slip backing, matching bunting and carry bag, as well as the cutest little window on the side, perfect for playing peekaboo.
